Daily Point of Light Award goes to one of our volunteers

The Daily Point of Light Award is given to individuals who lead and lend support to causes they care about.

Sophia May was seven years old when she started volunteering at our food pantry. She’s 17 now and her volunteerism was recognized recently by the Points of Light organization.

Like so many of our volunteers, Sophie’s story is our story—the story of volunteerism and the greater potential of our community.

One Big Beautiful Bill cuts food supply…

The ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’, signed into law on July 4, 2025 included cuts to SNAP and Medicaid that has impacted local food banks and food pantries. “Community Refrigerator” now open at our pantry

Brookfield’s first community refrigerator is now open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day at the pantry. All neighbors in urgent need of perishable foods can now get those foods outside of regular pantry hours. You do not need to sign-in to receive the food. The Rotary Club of Brookfield-Riverside is sponsoring and maintaining the fridge.
