Strategies for Change

We’re helping to end hunger in our region. That change starts with the understanding that the people we serve are not our clients. They are our neighbors.

We’re all neighbors here.

We’re building a food pantry where social engagement, mutual respect, and neighborly care can unify and uplift whole communities. Where success is not only measured in pounds of dispensed food or by the volume of “clients” receiving that food, but by the number of neighbors uplifted and feeling hopeful.

A different kind of food pantry

Freedom of Choice: We have purchased and converted a 7,000 square foot former factory into a “choice-based” grocery store service model. Here, neighbors can choose food and other items they need in a grocery store environment. The approach emphasizes and facilitates food sharing and social engagement over pre-bagged or pre-boxed food distribution.

Our strategies for ending hunger in our area start with the understanding that we are all neighbors.

Resource Hub

Last year, our new Resource Hub program helped dozens of neighbors find the help they needed, as they learned about services available locally, as well as through county, state, and federal channels.

Our recently launched Families First program provides a range of essential, early supply items for mothers and their children under the age of 5.

Community Outreach & Development

To help end hunger and the causes of hunger in our local communities, our food pantry is taking a two-step approach: First to inform, then to connect, the four corners of our regional community: Our neighbors in need, volunteers, donors, and business/civic leaders.
