We know why hunger persists…
Hunger diminishes us all.
Hunger and food insecurity impact the lives of neighbors throughout our region.*
Throughout our region, we have neighbors living below the Federal Poverty Level. This is a systemic reality, a situation long perpetuated in ways we as a region have yet to fully acknowledge and address.
Meanwhile, many more of our neighbors live in households marginally above the Federal Poverty Level. They too, can face hunger at unexpected turns — a temporary job loss, an unaffordable health expense.
While some may sit in judgement of our neighbors in need, community leaders are challenged to act. And food pantries like ours are uniquely positioned to partner in that effort.
*The percentage of individuals likely facing food insecurity are those living below 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL). In 2025, 200% FPL for a household of four is $64,300.
